Here is my final Flash for assignment 5. I made my flash about balancing your life. I decided to do flash for the final assignment because my it still needed some work and I am having fun working with flash. In my flash thing I added sound and animations to keep things interesting. I was having trouble with putting in sound and doing the animations but with a little help from Simon and Trevor I got my final product. In the future I plan to use flash for school and for anything else that i need to be creative for.

My final project is going to be my flash assignment. I think my flash project could be better so I want to work on it more and I need help with acquiring sound effects and doing motion tweens.

This podcast is about comparing SMASH from last year to this year. We interviewed Angelica a second year at SMASH and Freddy a RA. They had a different ideas of how things are going in SMASH but hopefully SMASH will get better.smash-comparison_tech.mp3

My last name is a French name that comes from Normandy. I’m not sure if my last name has any special meaning or if anyone notable besides me has the same last name. I was named after my uncle Ricardo, my dad’s only brother out of nine other siblings. On the bottom of the montage are images that might come to mind when they here my name. On the bottom left is a picture of Richard lion heart which I put in because it is a common English name and people might assume that it belongs to an English person. The middle image is the Payan coat of arms which comes from Normandy. The image on the right is my second life avatar and doesn’t look exactly like me because second life doesn’t have an endless number of attributes to choose from. the top of the montage has what I believe represents me. The image on the right is congas because I can play the congas and I love latin music. The image on the left is Nicaraguan currency because the value of ones culture is limitless. For a background I choose the Mexican flag because no matter what where you came from never changes. The image in the middle is a book because I love to read and reading has helped make me who I am today.

My avatars initial appearance was very different compared to me. I first started editing the shape of my avatar because every individual has a different shape to them. The easiest features to replicate were the forehead and ears because all I had to do was change the size. The skin tone was one of the hardest features to replicate because it changes from black to white very quickly. I modified almost every feature except the hair. To make my avatar look like me I would need a wider variety of attributes to choose from because some times none of the attributes fit me. My avatar does remind me of anyone he just looks like a Mexican kid.

My community is everything that influences who I am. I grew up in San Francisco and enjoy going to all the different sites and neighborhoods. The picture above the 49ers symbol in the middle to the left is an image of the community music center which has also recently become a big part of my community.

Hi everybody I’m going to talk about my early experiences with media. My earliest exposure to media that I could think of was watching Barney on television. Now the shows they have on t.v. for little kids are just weird like Teletubbies. They aren’t even any kind of animal and whats with the t.v. on the stomach that’s a real couch potatoe. Not all the shows on t.v. are bad now, shows like Band of Brothers and Lost are pretty good. Some of the first music that I started to listen to was house music. My mom likes modern art so I was also exposed to a lot of art but I personally don’t like most modern art. When I first started using the internet I spent a lot of time playing on neopets and runescape. But now I spend more time on sites like youtube. I don’t spend that much time on computers unless I’m playing computer games. So thats a brief history of my experiences with media and I look forward to having many more good experiences.
