Hey everyone! My name is Liliana. You can call me Lilee, but I prefer Liliana. I live in the Bay Area. Ironically, my favorite type of flowers are lilies, specifically tiger lilies. I love to be busy. I play on Varsity Badminton and I am in the intermediate dance class at my school. I found out about the SMASH program through my previous program, Heads-Up. This year, I chose to enroll into the Technology class because although I have taken other Technology classes before, I have a fuzzy memory and I tend to forget how to use programs such as Adobe Flash and Photoshop after awhile. I hope to use it often in class so that I can retain the information better.

A Button?

August 17th, 2007

Hi Trevor and Simon! How are your summers?

I was just wondering if the “<< Earlier Entries” is supposed to be a button, because it isn’t, and I was hoping you could fix that.  It’s harder to find earlier entries without that button.  Thank you!

A Polished Assignment

July 27th, 2007

I chose to polish my Flash project, because I did not finish it on time.  It was originally supposed to be on the entire S.A.T. Prep class, but I decided that it was too long, so I had to focus on one section.  I chose the Critical Reading section to focus on.  I had to add all the content and the buttons.  Then I would have to add music and animation.  I couldn’t get the pages to turn though.  As well, I did not know how to get a movie clip to start after one stopped, so it was all started at the same time.  If I could get more help, I can really polish this.  With this, hopefully people will actually look at mine and use the methods in the presentation.

Make a Flash Movie and WIN Some $$$

July 19th, 2007

Hi everyone.  We have recently been working with Flash as you may all know.  I stumbled upon a site the other day for you to be able to get a chance to win some money.  If you decide to do this, it has to be based on a global issue like global warming or pollution.  You don’t need a lot of experience, and you can try to take a chance at the first place prize, which is $2,000, second would be $1,000, third is $500, and the viewer’s choice is $250.  I encourage everyone to at least visit the site.  The Flash movies are really informative.  The next deadline is on April 1, 2008, so you still have some time between now and then to make something, and I’m sure Trevor or Simon would love to help you if ever needed.

Concerning Our Podcast

July 16th, 2007

Trevor or Simon-

Our group, Danny, Francisco, and I, had trouble recording and the computers we used weren’t working very well for some odd reason.  We had a lot of technical difficulties and were unable to complete the recordings as well as put together anything.  Maybe you can help us tomorrow.

For Trevor

July 11th, 2007

Hi Trevor. I was just wondering if you could look at my computer before class tomorrow, because my roommate says the internet isn’t working, and Mrs. St. Roseman said to ask you. We can’t visit any sites, and it says that they are all blocked.

By: Francisco Betancourt, Danny Sparks, and Liliana Pang

Making this podcast was very stressful, since we were given only so much time.  As well, working in the halls made an echo and there were people walking around making lots of background noises.  With so little time, it was hard to record again, so we didn’t have very much to work with.  I hope with Assignment #3, we will be able to have more time to work on our podcast and be able to polish it.

My Name is Liliana, What’s Yours?

July 9th, 2007

my_name.png

Liliana was supposed to be a unique name, a name noone had, or so my mother thought. She brought Lily and Ana together to form my name. There is no exact meaning in any of the languages, unless you translate it. Oddly as well, she chose my Chinese name which sounded exactly like my English name, except with accents. Part of it translated to beauty. I believe that beauty is of my surroundings, like the background image I had chosen for my montage. It was a picture of a natural setting that spoke to me. Noone in my family really shares my any part of my name except my dad’s mother, but my mom is sure she didn’t name me after her.

Now onto my montage. There are two parts to my montage with two families. My immediate family on the top half, and my friends on the bottom. My friends are my second family, because they are always there for me. Although, I did not have enough room to include every single one of them. My immediate family only consists of my mom and my brother.  My brother’s name is even more unique than mine, Kenmond.  The top half as well contains traces of my culture. The Chinese flag represents the country my family originated from. The horse is from the Chinese zodiac, and is my sign. Although many people born in 1991 are sheeps, my Chinese birthday was still in 1990, therefore, I am a horse. Knowing that this animal was me, I grew to love them very much. Also on my montage is a picture of a badminton birdie and a picture of a waterlily. The badminton birdie represents the most loved game that I play, and the lily represents my favorite flower.

Thursdays for Trevor or Simon

July 5th, 2007

Hi Trevor or Simon.
I just want to remind you that I won’t be coming on Thursday to Tech class. If we work on something that needs to be taught to me that might be a little hard for a student to teach me, hopefully one of you can come to tutorials and show me what to do. I’m on Alma’s suite, technically the first floor, and first room on the right as you enter. Otherwise, I can ask someone from the class. And if you’re not sure you can make it to tutorials and just want to quickly show me something, I’ll still be in the Leconte building, but all the way downstairs in the Physics lab with Miguel from 12-2:30.
