Howdy, My name is Armani Stanford-Wyse and I attend Pittsburg High School. I am very glad to be apart of the SMASH technology class. Learning about the media and how it all works, seems to be very interesting. I had taken technology in the ninth grade and it was exciting. I learned more about Windows than I had ever known because I was so accustomed to Macintosh. Hopefully with Trevor and Simon teaching, I will be able to learn even more about computers and technology.

What’s in my name you ask?!

July 9th, 2007

montage-name.jpg

Hello my name is Armani Stanford-Wyse and I am a second year SMASH scholar who attends Pittsburg High School. (Go Pirates!!!) My last named was derived from two areas known as Spain and Italy. This is unique because I would have never thought that my name had come from these two wonderful places. I actually got my name from Georgio Armani who was born in Italy. My father used the cologne all the time and decided that when his first child was born, he would name him or her Armani. My mom loved the name and that is how I came to be known as Armani. When my sister was born her name came from her father also. He did not know that my name was Armani because they always called me “Money Man” and plus I was living with my grandmother at the time. He decided to name her Imani which is very similar to my name.

My montage expresses who I am in a number of ways. The owl and the brain, used in the bottom left corner, is used to represent the fact that I am a wise young man. An owl symbolizes the trait of intelligence which represents me very well. The state of Texas and it’s flag represents me because I am lone and different like a star. There is no other Armani like me! The cologne and the suit represents me because it is where my father got my name from. The money symbol represents the fact that my future is very bright. Also, my family called me money man when I was younger and I had really grew accustom to the name. The red carpet represents another way that also helped my father come up with the name Armani. Most celebrities that walk the carpet where Georgio Armani w hich made my father start to like the cologne. The Stanford football helps represent my last name which came from Spain. It is also the name of a university which is in Palo Alto. It also represents my love for football.

3600 second Avatar

I was surprised by my avatar’s appearance because he turned out to look like Carlos Mencia. I say this because he looks Mexican which looks nothing like me! The feature I chose to edit first was my body. I figured this would be the easiest place to start because the body does not have to look exact for your facial appearance to be similar. The face was the most difficult place to replicate because like I stated earlier he turned out to look like Carlos Mencia. I think that I would need a 3-D picture for me to be able to get an exact replica.

My Community (Pittsburg)

In my community, Friday nights are when almost the entire city of Pittsburg comes to watch their mighty pirates play. The whole city comes together as they watch the football team represent their city with pride. Not only does the football team entertain the fans but the PHS band does a wonderful job also. The band performs at half time and has everyone motivated during gameplay. When the team is down and out, you can count on the cheerleaders and the band to give the pirate’s football team the pep it needs. You may also catch our mascot with a gigantic head take a peak at the game to ensure fun to everyone.

Media’s effect on me

June 26th, 2007

My favorite game Madden 2007. John Madden helped to create Madden and I have been consistently buying it since Madden 2000. This interactive media has an influence on me because it makes me want to play football with my friends in real life. When I am unable to get in touch with my friends, I usually play Madden and use my imagination as if I were really apart of the NFL. Madden has become so popular that it has it’s own television show named Madden Nation, which appears on ESPN2. Madden has an effect on most people because it is highly advertised on television and other types of media such as radio and world wide web. In Madden 06, the Tony Bruno show was brought into the franchise mode, where you could get information about what was going on around the league or listen to music. On the latest game systems such as the Sony Playstation and the Microsoft X-Box, the Internet has been a place where people are able to interact with Madden players from around the world and test their skills. I would induce media to induce change by helping people with tips on how to get your franchise going successfully, by maybe creating a song, giving helpful tips over the Internet or even over the radio. I would probably try to make Madden even better than it already is by becoming a video game designer.
