My name is Noel Haddish Youhannes and I was born in Oakland, Ca on the grandest day off all FEB 2 '91 in Kaiser Hospital. Now I'm 'bout 5'8 and around 135 pounds with less than 7 percent body fat so ya'll know most of it is muscle. I like cars that go fast and lifestyles that go fast too. My favorite subject by far is science, I really don't know why but it is. Wrestling is fun and football is fun too but in wrestling it is pure physical dominance over another human being and it is simply amazing and you get applauded for it. America is great. What I want to learn from this class is how to communicate with technology more effectively.

#4: The Flashback, Assignments

Noel Youhannes
Assignment #5

July 26th, 2007

I did a remix of my what’s in a name montage. It looks pretty much the same but I resized pictures and placed them in different areas of the canvas to create the optical illusion that I did a lot.^_^ I took away the John Madden pic because I didn’t think it did much to the montage and after some thought, HE isn’t really apart of my life, only the video game series. Plus, you couldn’t even see it that much. I added a University of California seal because I always wanted to go there and SMASH is pretty much a sample of it. Berkeley is the (or one of the) # 1 public school in America. It’s right next door to my house so I don’t have to travel far from moms and pops, and their money… I also added a nintendo emblem because I grew up with nindento and it is pretty much a staple at my house and my relatives as well. I made the background picture of Jesus more transparent so all the other pics could stand out and I darkened his eyes and face to remind you that we can’t see him but  his eyes are watching over us. The What’s in a Name Project was one that I really wanted to do and it was so fluid and smooth that it didn’t feel like a homework project. I got to talk with my pops a lot during the duration of the project and I learned a lot about my heritage and name. I felt like I could’ve improved my montage a lot while I sent it to the website and I regret the fact that I sent it like that. I will probably continue to change it over time because time is consistent and I will change as well.

Qu’est Dans Un Nom ?

July 9th, 2007

My name is Noel Youhannes. My first name means Christmas. My parents named me so because it was a name in both English and my native language. My last name is a translation of John The Baptist. The montage represents me because every image is a part of me. The flag to the right is the flag of Eritrea which is the country I come from. The image below is John The Baptist and why it’s there is self explanatory. The picture below that is a picture of Santa Clause and that symbolizes Christmas and that’s self explanatory as well. The obelisk next to Santa is an ancient monument of the ancestors I have. John Madden is there because he helped create the BEST comptetive game ever. I play for the excitement and it is just so fun. The Ipod is next to Madden because music is a HUGE part of me. Music is my relaxation realm and creates my nirvana in the life I live. The ancient gold sarcophagus is a symbol of the blood lines of the Egyptians I carry. Growing up in Oakland there were two choices, The Raiders or you are an outsider. I grew up in a community with die-hard Raider fanatics so naturally, I became a fan as well. I started watching games and learning about their history so it didn’t take long to fall in love with them. Wrestling is one of the most physical and mentally testing sport of all time. One has to subdue their mind and body to limits that they never experienced before. It gets me in shape and I think it is amazing the human can physically dominate another within same body sizes. It just shows how important and vital genetics are. The flag above is the flag of California, the BEST state in the US of A. The weather is perfect, we’ve got good schools and our governor is the Terminator, c’mon it can’t get much better. All that can’t describe how important the big picture is. Jesus Christ is the biggest part of my life. There would be no life without him. All the advancements and progression in my life couldn’t be achieved if he wasn’t there to watch over me. There is no way to repay him for the sacrifices he made for us all. He gave up his life to give me mine.

3600 second Avatar in Second Life

July 5th, 2007

snapshot-no_001.bmp
Wow, this guy looks just like me. I edited my face and hair first because that would be very distinct and noticeable. My hair and skin color was easy to replicate because I placed all the stats next to the max and it came out perfectly. My mustache and little goatee was hard to replicate because they are thin and not as thick as my avatar. The only option was a thick mustache or none at all. It was difficult to detail the hair because the detail option was limited. I think I modified almost all the attributes because starting avatar was not me: I am not the boy next door. I needed to detail my curls and my thin mustache. My avatars appearance reminds me of me because it looks like me.

Community

Hello every one again this Noel and I’d like to talk to you guys about my community. Where I live and my surrounding neighborhoods, football is a BIG thing and mostly everyone wants to be a wide receiver. These superstars are really just ordinary people who play a sport they love and get applauded, celebrated and paid big bucks for it. No one in the community makes seven figure salaries but they NFL wide receivers are a symbol that dreams and hopes can come true. If there is a will, there is a way. On a different note the NFL in general is a BIG issue because fantasy football is extremely important. FF is the brag of the community because it’s a big kids’ dream to have good players from all different teams on one team, on your team. Competition is a feeling, it is a sport.

Media and Me

June 28th, 2007

Hey everyone my name is Noel and I love media. On a (usually) daily basis I’m exposed to lots of T.V. and music
and sports like football and wrestling.

I grew up with games and daily news readings from my parents. We never had the top of the line electronic devices but I read newspapers and played educational computer games like Math Blaster. The media is now very affective in getting a message out because of new ground breaking technology. We can communicate the message easily with computers sending mail through the internet. Media will be used over and over to lead change in the world. Voices will be heard and messages will be received faster and better the more we use media to communicate.
