Frankenstein in flash outline

July 19th, 2007

                                                                         “Frankenstein the miserable, cruel creature”

I. Frankenstein: Cover page

II. Brief summary: Frankenstein is a scientist who gets carried out by certain emotions caused by experiences and he is eventually driven by madness and creates a creature. That creature begins a rampage of killing because he has not had anyone love him or even care about so his misery turns him wicked.

III. Main point #1-Humans should not mess with the law of god because we are just humans and we are not perfect like god so we should not try to mimic him.

IV. Main point #2-Vanity can bring destruction: Acknowledgement, power, fame caused Frankenstein to loose his loved ones.

V. Main point #3- love creates good and hatred creates evil, loneliness, circumstances can change the way people are like Frankenstein’s misery turned him evil.

VI. Many stories have a Bride of Frankenstein but the original did not and I will clear this confusion.

VII. Many people think Frankenstein is the monster but the scientist is actually Frankenstein and once again I will clear this confusion.

VIII. In many stories Frankenstein is really old with grey hair but he is actually young.

IX. Conclusion: The end

My montage of life

July 1st, 2007

The photoshop picture I created has a lot of meaning. Firstly, the image of the virgin Mary in the middle represents religion and the belief every human needs, and it does not matter what beliefs but as long as you believe in something because it is very good for spiritual health. Secondly, the picture with the birds symbolizes a world without violence which is what we all want. The picture in the upper left hand corner represents the world and how we should nurture it to keep it going as long as possible. The picture in the top middle means that the world now is able to communicate but that not everybody has the communication in their disposal, which is a big problem because the world can not help people that it does not hear. The picture in the bottom left hand corner symbolizes how big the universe is and how small we are and that we need to seriously start looking for alien life so that maybe we can get help with the problems we are experiencing today like global warming. The picture in the bottom right corner represents paradise which is what every human being strives for. Finally, the backround which is a water drop, stands for time and that even though time goes slow our problems are becoming large like a body of water.

First Day of Photoshop

June 28th, 2007

ne-wpics.jpgnews1.jpg

Today in Tech I had my first taste of Photoshop. First after a few technical difficulties I was able to experiment with some features of Photoshop. First the class was taken through the basic components of Photoshop and then we were allowed to experiment with the software. I took two of my pictures and experimented with different filters such as liquify, artistic and distort. With the pictures below I used charcoal and glowing edges to experiment . I really enjoy working with Photoshop and I look forward to learning even more about it and advancing in the Tech class.

Myself and Media

June 26th, 2007

The form of media I am exposed to most frequently would have to be video because I watch moving pictures on my T.V. at home a lot but also audio because I play and listen to music most of my free time. Since I also mix music tracks the amount of time I spend in this media is also extended.

The first time I came in contact with media was at the age of 2, when I first turned on the television while crawling. My dad and my mom was amazed at the time that I did that. The Television had always been enticing at this time because it contained a screen with lighted pixels on it. I didn’t know this at the time because I was only 2, but now looking back on it now I can fully understand what I was thinking. I thought the T.V. was like magic.

Media is a great way to communicate with others. Since the average time Americans sit in front of the T.V. is increasing, we can use the television as an effective medium. Through the television we can communicate moving pictures as well as audio. It also works nicely for blind or deaf people. Since the television consists of multimedia; audio and video, the blind can hear the sound and the deaf can see the pictures.

Finally we can use technology to induce change in our society by informing them persuading them or even doing both in combination with entertaining them. By spreading our knowledge to others we can spread news to the world. And by since media is at its peak popularity today we can use all of the media to personify our points and bring others to our cause, and they can bring others too.

Media and Me

June 26th, 2007

Media is around us constantly. It’s on my living room television and on the nail shop’s t.v. as well, it’s when I listen to my i-pod while walking down the street, then I get home and blast the radio.

Media is everywhere we go, but is it good for us?

Media has always been in my life, I don’t remember the day we first met, but I remember the days I fought my sister and brothers so I could watch tom and jerry instead of MTV, or my first cd ( Mariah Carey’s number one hits, you know back when she looked natural, before plastic surgery… anyways). Listening to the radio, Cassette tapes, cd’s, watch movies and t.v. all of this seems like it has been in my life just about as long as my memory.

Growing up, I never questioned or thought it strange that I made my Christmas list while watching T.V. commercials for my ideas. I’d watch Nickolodeon, wait for the commercials then when I saw something I wanted like the brand new fairy sky dancers  , I would write it on my seemingly ever growing Christmas list, which now that I think about it was more like a “I wish that I could possibly have all these useless toys some day even though they have no purpose, will probably break after the first day, and if not I will be done with them after the first week if it last that long” type of list.

All of these commercials aren’t necessarily bad, but that fact that I needed someone else to tell me what I wanted isn’t exactly a good thing. All in all what I am saying is that the media has trained, well at least me, to listen to what is advertised as good and use it. I mean I would love to say that I am an individual and I don’t need ‘the man’ to tell me what to do, but next time that you claim that you do what you want solely because you want to, be like that annoying little kid you were forced to babysit and just keep on asking, WHY? Why do I want to do this? Why? Why? Why?

For example:

*In the Abercombie and Fitch in Emeryville on Bay St. two blondes Brittany and Katey are shopping*

Brittany:Oh my goodness, like I totally like love this Abercrombie shirt!

Katey: I know right!

* Brittany’s conscience comes into play and she stops and thinks*

*Aside to herself*

Conscience: Why do you want that Abercrombie shirt?

Brittany: Because it’s cute, duh!

Conscience: Why would you pay 25$ for a yellow shirt that says Abercrombie rather than 5$ for a yellow shirt that doesn’t say Abercrombie?

Brittany: Because Abercrombie is cool duh!

Conscience: But why is Abercrombie cool?

Brittany: Because I saw it on that big billboard in San Fransisco when I got off the bridge…

*Brittany looks at the shirt and puts it down*

*Aloud*

Katey: OMG, Britt like why are you putting it back!

Brittany:Because I don’t need it okay! You just don’t get it do you?

Katey: Why don’t you just dye your hair brown already….

Well anyways, thats my point, if you think hard enough, it might not come right away but it seems to me that this lovely media of ours has taken over our individuality, and the funny part is we still think we have it.

But! Not all media is bad!!

Media allows us to connect ourselves with people all across this Earth. In Berkeley there is a local television station that allows the people residing in Berkeley to speak their mind on television so that they are able to be heard by all in Berkeley who care enough to listen. This show is probably on of the weirdest things I have ever seen but it is good that they are able to get their point out where those willing can accept them.

The internet is also a place where people all over the world can communicate and share knowledge. the internet is great because it makes it possible for us to easily look up anything we want to and we can find information on it we can find organizations, anything the internet simply is a tool we all need. We can now send photo books to the other side of the country, or even the world, without any postage. We can talk to our best friends while looking at them through the web cam without being anywhere near. We can send cards to our favorite aunt with no postage what so ever. The internet has opened doors in media that we never saw coming and it creates opportunities that continue to

Grow and Grow and Grow…
