The A
July 27th, 2007
I deserve to get an A in the class because I contributed a great deal into the completion of the document and I proposed many ideas that in a way helped shape the document.
My role in the process was very interesting, I volunteered to become the leader of the technical Department, this role helped me establish organization and help my peers contribute to finish the document on time.
Some of the contributions I made into the Document were the creation of a city layout that represents the way the game may look like, It was out of my own time that I managed to completed and included into the document in time. I believe that visual is very important in order for the audience to have a visual of our idea in their minds, I think the environment along with the character can give the audience a glance of our intentions. As a leader for the tech department I had to complete the Game Mechanics chapter of the document. This is one of the most important pieces in the document because it explains the process and the actions in the game and how the game will be seen in a technical prospective. An example of my contribution was the bar system chart that explains the role that the different bars have on the character; this is really an important piece for the document because the bars will be very useful in the game. I also contributed on different topics such as the gym, the movement of the characters.
I work a decent amount of time on the document, the different classes made me unable to spend extra time in the document, but I managed to add anything necessary into the document, I was the first one to start the proofreading and addition of new segments that were posted by other members, this helped ease the traffic of going into the document too many times at once and accidentally erasing any work already done.
If I would have time to work more on the project, I think I would come up with more ideas for the game, I would produced more layouts for each section just like I did with the environment section.
I believe I performed best on the art work for the document although i was not part of the art department, I still contribute the ideas of making the the mall look like a pyramid and I added the ideas of the other art in the the city layout, such as Jann’s Gym and the Work Place.
I had a little problem adjusting to flash and Photoshop but at the end I overcame those obstacles.
All this reasons show why I deserve an A in the class

River
The river separates the suburbs from the ghetto part of the city. Also, it helps to build variety in the environment.
Main Character
There are various characteristics that form the main character depending on the player’s choices.
Rival
The rival is the main character’s best friend. As the main character moves forward in the game, the rival mimics his choices and decisions and always stays one step ahead of the game.
Girlfriend
The main character’s girlfriend will be dependent upon the choices that he makes and what his strong points are such as strength, charm, intelligence, etc. This is an example of what one of the girlfriends could look like.
Random Citizens
The main purpose of random citizens is for the personal enjoyment of the main character; however, certain citizens guide the main character along his quest to success.
Teachers
Teachers are all different. Some are supportive while some are discouraging. Their looks do not change due to the main character’s choices, their looks change as the player moves on through the game.
Final Assignment: The Student’s Dilemma
July 24th, 2007
I’ve created a page with instructions for the final assignment — The Student’s Dilemma.
The goal of this “game” is to pitch your desired final grade to your Instructors, and justify that grade with specific references to the Game Design Document and the process blog.
In writing your argument, you must also use Game Theory to explain why you chose to propose the grade that you did.
The instructions for the assignment should be pretty self-explanatory, but PLEASE be sure to post any questions about the assignment to the blog.

Relationship System
July 24th, 2007
The Relationship System will be close to reality. The main character will start the game having no girlfriend. Different girls will be available for him to try to get their attention. Based on his health and date meter, different girls with different personalities might be attracted to him. After a certain amount of time the main character will have the option of asking the girls out. If the girl accepts, then they become a couple and the attractiveness meter becomes the date meter. The girlfriend helps the character cope with quotidian life. If the main character does not pay enough attention to the girlfriend, then she might break up with him. In later levels he will have the choice to have different girlfriends and maybe even propose to them.
In the mist of Traveler’s Dilemma
July 24th, 2007
Once I read an example of a game with traveler’s dilemma it demonstrated an attempt to contain to most economic gain between two players. In the game, the player has to figure out some amount of money that is high enough to be a comfortable amount but still be either equal to the other player or lower because it will either benefit both or just one player. Games like these take rational thinking to solve a right solution. I would really enjoy playing a game with TD and hope to see if my choice has something to do with my decisions predicted in Game Theory. Here is the example of Traveler’s Dilemma from a 1994 game by Kaushik Basu.
An airline loses two suitcases belonging to two different travelers. Both suitcases happen to be identical and contain identical antiques. An airline manager tasked to settle the claims of both travelers explains that the airline is liable for a maximum of $100 per suitcase, and in order to determine an honest appraised value of the antiques the manager separates both travelers so they can’t confer, and asks them to write down the amount of their value at no less than $2 and no larger than $100. He also tells them that if both write down the same number, he will treat that number as the true dollar value of both suitcases and reimburse both travelers that amount. However, if one writes down a smaller number than the other, this smaller number will be taken as the true dollar value, and both travelers will receive that amount along with a bonus/malus: $2 extra will be paid to the traveler who wrote down the lower value and a $2 deduction will be taken from the person who wrote down the higher amount. The challenge is: what strategy should both travelers follow to decide the value they should write down?
The Traveler’s Dilemma
July 24th, 2007
The Traveler’s Dilemma is really interesting because it analyzes how people think and how greedy people can be, people tend to think about what is in their best interest , but they don’t really think about all their options and what actually is in their best interest. But in the other hand its just how people think and how each person mind works. The value after reading the article would be 2 dollars, but in all truth if I were in this situation I would have asked for the actual amount it was worth.
The TD in action
July 24th, 2007
The article on the traveler’s dilemma really showed me that large extent of greed that people can have. I really think that it can be impossible for the Lucy and Peter to reach an agreement regarding the price. Their geed strikes when they see the possibility of getting 101 instead of 100; the fact that they didn’t rationalize and both choose 100 shows how low people can go for money. I don’t think i would choose 2, if i was stuck with that decision i would try to maintain they highest amount and hope that the other person will choose the higher amount (101) or and average amount. If you think carefully you will see that choosing 100 dollars is better because even though the other person might choose 99 and you end up getting 98 that is still a higher price. I don’t think it matters if you loose 2 dollars or you win 1 dollar that is been too greedy, i mean is just a dollar.
The Traveler’s Dilemma
July 24th, 2007
The Traveler’s Dilemma is a game about two travelers whose luggage has been damaged and are given an option to get their money back. I think the travelers are not honest and are very greedy. They are given an option to say how much money their belongings were without knowing what the other said. When I saw this T thought this people could be getting a lot more money if they were just honest and told how much their belongings really were. I would have either said 100 or the real price of the item. The logic that the most likely number would be 2 makes sense; However, it just shows the greed of people this days.

Game Theory Writing Homework
July 19th, 2007
Read the first page of The Traveler’s Dilemma article on Scientific American. Write your brief reactions to the dilemma. If you were in this situation, how much would you say your item is worth? Do you agree that $2 is the most logical response?
