Simon Robertson Interactive Media Lab TA |
I have always been a visual learner and communicator. Art and entertainment, including graphic novels, film, and games captivated my brother and me at a very young age. As I grew older, my interest of graphic design and technology quickly became a vehicle for self-expression, a means to gain employment, and the focus of my academic pursuits. I have worked as a graphic designed for GamePro magazine in Oakland, California . There I worked exclusively with text, image, and color to present content in an aesthetic way. I recently graduated from Cogswell Polytechnical College, earning a BA with a focus in Video Game Design and Interactivity.

Assignment One
- Personal Profile & Statement: Media & Me <empty> |
Assignment Two - Montage: What's In A Name?
The Montage assignment was a rewarding project to create because it's all about personal history and identity. Contemplating, researching, and ultimately finding the ideal imagery to use in my project took the most time, but once finished, I was able to focus on arranging the montage instead of hunting for images— making the creation process (working in photoshop) much quicker. My personal montage shows where I came from (history of my last name, and family) and then transitions to show who I've become today. For example, the Robertson Family crest and map of Scotland represent my family's Scottish heritage. The family ski photo and Canadian maple leaf were added to show that my immediate family is from Canada. On the right side of the montage, Rodin's “The Thinker” and the color wheel represent my passion for art and contemplation. The Bay Bridge and City of Oakland logo show my love for Oakland . |
